Dear Monroe Families,
We are reaching out to ask for your support in reinforcing the importance of respect and responsibility in our shared school spaces. Lately, we have seen an increase in students mistreating common areas, especially our restrooms. We have had to bring in maintenance multiple times to repair toilets, sinks, emergency signs, and other fixtures due to intentional damage or misuse. Lately, students have stuffed shirts and math manipulatives down the toilets. These repeated incidents not only take valuable time and resources away from our school but also create an environment that is unwelcoming and uninviting.
At Monroe, we believe that every student deserves to learn in a clean, safe, and respectful environment—one that supports both their academic success and social-emotional well-being. We are asking for your help in reinforcing the following expectations with your child:
Respect shared spaces by using them appropriately and keeping them clean.
If you see something wrong, walk away and tell an adult rather than participating or encouraging negative behavior.
Take pride in our school by treating it with care and reminding peers to do the same.
Our school community is strongest when we work together. We appreciate your partnership in reminding students that their actions impact everyone and that respect for our spaces reflects respect for each other. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your support in making Monroe a welcoming and positive place for all students.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Simmons, Mr. Imlay, & Mrs. Medina
