Events This Week
We’ve successfully completed Week 2! This week, students engaged in lively debates in Speech & Debate, explored foods from around the world, and enjoyed a variety of other enriching experiences. Be sure to stay connected each day to see what’s happening at Monroe!
Read on for details about the upcoming week, including key reminders and new updates.
Student Arrival
Beginning tomorrow, September 2nd, all students will enter the school through the main entrance during morning arrival. 6th graders will now join their peers at the main entrance instead of using the circle drive. Please take a moment to remind your kiddo about this change before tomorrow.
To help keep things running smoothly, please remind your student to remove their phones, chargers, and other electronics from their bag before going through the Weapons Detection Machine. This small step will help speed up the TSA process and reduce the need for unnecessary bag searches. Thank you for your cooperation!
Locks & Lockers
To help keep our classrooms focused and free of distractions, students are encouraged to place their belongings in their lockers. If you haven’t had a chance to purchase a lock yet, please consider doing so to ensure their items are safe and secure. Thank you for your continued support in promoting a safe and productive learning environment!
Asbestos Notification
All Tulsa Public School buildings have been inspected for asbestos-containing materials in accordance with EPA mandates on or before October 12, 1989, by licensed and accredited inspectors. The EPA requires that we notify the school's occupants and their families of this annually and where to go for additional information.
School Reminders
School Start & End Times
Students have become familiar with our arrival and departure procedures. As a friendly reminder, school starts at 9:15 am, and our doors open at 8:55 am. It's important to keep in mind that students need enough time in the morning to go through our TSA procedures, grab breakfast, eat, and store their belongings in their locker. Dropping students off as late as 9:10 am, for instance, might result in them being late to class and being marked tardy. Since instruction begins right at the bell, we don’t want your student to fall behind. Please help us ensure they have enough time by dropping them off early enough to comfortably reach their classroom.
Bus Transportation
Please make sure your child knows which bus they should take in the afternoon if they ride the bus home. It's essential that they are familiar with both their bus number and their stop.
We recommend reviewing this information with your child and having them write it down to keep in their bag.
