Dear Middle School Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the final quarter of this school year, we want to share a few important reminders for middle schoolers and their families. Middle school is an important time as students prepare for their journey into high school and beyond. One of the first steps towards your student’s success in high school is mastering key skills and academic content. To do that, Tulsa Public Schools is committed to making sure every middle schooler has the support they need to successfully pass their required classes. Here’s what you need to know:

  • For students who are struggling with one or more classes this semester, there is still time to get back on track! If your student needs one-on-one support or extra help, contact your school office directly to get specific details on options at your school.

  • If your student has an “F” grade in any required math or reading course, we are making resources available to make up that credit. This summer, any middle school student who has not passed a required math or reading class will be automatically enrolled in credit recovery over the summer.

  • Credit recovery is required for any student who has not passed a reading or math class. If your student does not successfully complete credit recovery for a required class, they will not be enrolled in the next grade level for the fall. They will remain in their current grade for the next school year. (To learn more about the Tulsa Public Schools policy 2406 concerning the promotion, retention, and failing grades of students, read the full policy here.)

What you can do today:

  1. Determine if your student has failed a required class, or is in danger of failing this semester. You can find this information in your Parent Portal account in PowerSchool or you may contact your school directly.

  2. For students who need to participate in credit recovery: Help your student understand the plan to recover the lost credits so they can move to the next grade in the fall.

  3. Make plans now for your student to attend in-person credit recovery Monday-Thursday, between July 7 to July 31, 2025. More information on locations and registration is coming soon.

Tulsa Public Schools is committed to the success of every student. Your student still has time to do their best this semester. Let’s work together to ensure a strong finish to the school year! We believe that with your support and involvement, every middle school student can thrive. Thank you for your partnership in your child's education.

Warmly,

Erin Armstrong

Chief Academic Officer

Tulsa Public Schools
